BEST OF BIG CATS & CONSERVATION SAFARI

This is a unique, hands-on wildlife and conservation experience incorporating elements of wildlife veterinary activity, large mammal chemical capture, rhino protection and conservation, and a specialized focus on southern Africa’s big cats. Personally guided and hosted by safari guide and conservationist Andrew Rae. Enjoy a high-end, unrivalled wildlife experience that will flood your senses and enhance your connection to wild Africa.

TWO NIGHTS AT TSHUKUDU LODGE

We begin with a two-night stay at Tshukudu Lodge, an intimate and beautifully appointed lodge located in the Greater Pilanesberg region and home to a variety of animal and bird species. We will visit the Pilanesberg National Park, for a conservation experience of a lifetime immobilizing and dehorning rhino. Learn about the rehabilitation of Africa’s endangered and threatened wildlife.

THREE NIGHTS AT JACI’S CAMP

We spend the next three nights at a private camp located within the Madikwe Game Reserve adjacent to the endless wilderness expanses of central North West. Here we hope to encounter some of Africa’s most magnificent big game as we explore this exclusive safari concession, both with vehicles and on foot.

FOUR NIGHTS AT MASHATU TENT CAMP

The following four nights are to be spent at Mashatu Tent Camp in the remote and undeveloped southern portion of the Tuli Reserve. Mashatu is an intimate and authentic tented safari camp…the essence of a true safari experience. Their comfortable en-suite Meru-style tents are reminiscent of days when safaris were all about the sights, sounds and smells of the bush. The camp is all about the animals, unique wildlife experiences and the subsequent regaling of these by the fireside.

We’ll set out on open safari vehicles in search of those majestic powerful big cats. Maybe we will even find a pair of cheetah hunting as we did last year, or track down another pride of lionesses with their cubs feasting on an enormous buffalo they had killed the night before. We will venture off-road through the bush in pursuit of close-up sightings of leopard and cheetah elephants, rhino, giraffe, zebras and much, much more. If we are really, really lucky, like we were last year, we will see more than glorious leopards walk casually past us at night and in broad daylight; we might even catch a couple in the process of making more leopards…truly an astonishing Big Cat moment.
