FOUR NIGHT STAY AT N/A’ANKUSE

Join us for four nights of luxury at N/a’ankusê Lodge, situated in the middle of a magnificent game conservation reserve. Our focus here will be on the wild dog conservation efforts of the N/a’ankusê Foundation and we’ll include a uniue oppurtunity to assist in the annual health checks and handling of the captive population held in large enclosures, once they have been anaesthetised of course by the veterinary team. We will also be tracking radio collared African Wild Dogs in the reserve, observe them and learn about their history, behaviour and the future of wild dog research in Namibia with the reserve managers and scientists involved with the project.

We will then enjoy upclose and personal interactions with several human-raised rescue cheetah who are also allowed free range hunting opportunity in the bush of the reserve; a fantastic experience for those who can keep up! At the end of their endeavours they politely wait to be collected by the conservation team. As if that wasn’t enough we also get the chance to interact with a troop of human socialised group of baboons in the wild and enjoy several game drives to look at a range of iconic African species such as giraffe, zebra and eland.

Includes full board and two activities per day. Your fees for this safari include a contribution to the Wild Dog conservation and management research program at N/a’ankusê.

TWO NIGHTS OF DESERT LUXURY AT THE NAMIB DESERT LODGE

The Namib Desert Lodge is situated in an iconic landscape where clear blue skies contrast with giant red sand dunes to make this one of the natural wonders of Africa and a photographer’s paradise. On our way to the lodge we stop at the scenic if unromantically named Dune 45 and climb Big Daddy for magnificent views of the desert before descending through the stark Dead Vlei and Sesriem Canyon. Some of the dunes in the area are a few hundred meters high and the view from the top for those that dare climb is unforgetable. After lunch and a well-earned siesta, we return to the lodge for a nature drive and sundowners in the desert before returning to the lodge in time for dinner. Includes full board and sundowner drive.

TWO NIGHTS AT THE SWAKOPMUND SANDS HOTEL

The Swakopmund Sands Hotel is literally a few minutes’ walk away from the coast with its very popular jetty and restaurants and other tourist attractions. Each ensuite room is equipped with a flat screen TV, a safe, under floor heating, a fridge, and tea and coffee making facilities. In the morning we will enjoy a sumptuous buffet breakfast in the hotel’s relaxing dining area.

TWO NIGHTS AT MOWANI MOUNTAIN CAMP

We continue our safari northwards along the Skeleton Coast. After visiting an inland shipwreck in the sands and the massive Cape Fur Seal colony at Cape Cross Seal Reserve, we turn inland towards Damaraland. We will drive past the Brandberg, Namibia’s highest mountain at 2573 metres enroute to the stunning Mowani Mountain Camp.

During our stay here we will drive the dunes in search of the magnificent desert elephants and the elusive black rhinos of the region. Local guides will share their knowledge with us as we visit Twyfelfontein to view fascinating ancient rock engravings. Visits to see Burnt Mountain, the Petrified Forest and the geological wonder of the Organ Pipes all enrich our time here.

Includes full board.

ONE NIGHT BACK AT N/A’ANKUSE BEFORE CATCHING FLIGHTS HOME THE NEXT DAY
